Lewis Hamilton Faces Early Ferrari Frustration After Disappointing Bahrain Qualifying.

Lewis Hamilton cut a visibly frustrated figure in Bahrain on Saturday after a difficult qualifying session left him starting ninth on the grid—marking a rocky chapter in what was supposed to be a dream move to Ferrari.

Now preparing for just his fourth race with the iconic Italian team, the seven-time world champion appears to be feeling the pressure. His Q3 lap time was deleted due to a track limits violation, further compounding an already tough session. Meanwhile, teammate Charles Leclerc shone, securing P3—six tenths of a second faster than Hamilton.

“I’m really sorry, guys,” Hamilton said over the team radio, his disappointment echoing through the paddock. Later, during media interviews, he kept things brief and somber.

“I don’t have a lot of answers for you guys, just wasn’t quick today,” Hamilton admitted. “I’m just not doing a good enough job on my side. I’ve got to keep improving.”

When asked if this was his lowest point since joining Ferrari—a transfer that generated massive hype during the off-season—Hamilton was candid: “It’s definitely not a good feeling for sure.”

Still, he remained optimistic about the car’s capabilities, pointing to Leclerc’s performance as proof.

“Clearly the car is good enough [to be higher], which is good,” he said, acknowledging the contrast in their results.

After suggesting post-Japan Grand Prix that something in his car felt different from Leclerc’s, Hamilton confirmed that the issue has been resolved: “That’s been resolved,” he said simply.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s race, Hamilton projected some hope.

Asked by IVP what his target is for race day, he replied: “Hopefully top five… I’ll try and see if I can get into the top five. Let’s see.”

As Ferrari fans continue to wait for Hamilton’s breakthrough moment in red, all eyes will be on whether Sunday delivers signs of promise—or more frustration.
