Glenn Close on Working with Kim Kardashian in All’s Fair — and Why She Chose Not to Give Her Acting Advice

In a surprising yet intriguing pairing, legendary actress Glenn Close and cultural icon Kim Kardashian are set to share the screen in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming legal drama All’s Fair. While the collaboration might seem unlikely at first glance, Close says it was curiosity, not hesitation, that drew her to the project—and to Kardashian.

Speaking candidly about her experience, Close, 78, revealed that despite her extensive résumé, which includes over four decades in film and eight Oscar nominations, she made a conscious decision not to offer her co-star any acting guidance.

“I was genuinely curious,” she said. “It was my first time working on a Ryan Murphy project—which is its own universe—and I was excited to meet Kim. I think she might have been surprised by how I navigated the set at first. Even I had to find my rhythm.”

Kardashian, 44, is no stranger to the spotlight, but All’s Fair marks a major step forward in her acting career following her role in American Horror Story: Delicate. Despite Kardashian’s relative newness to scripted television, Close insists that advice wasn’t necessary.

“I would never presume to give Kim Kardashian advice,” Close explained. “She’s incredibly intelligent, focused, and capable. She could excel at anything she sets her mind to—whether it’s acting, business, or law. She’s already accomplished so much as a woman, a mother, and an entrepreneur. I’m truly curious to see what she chooses next.”

While Close refrained from mentoring Kardashian on set, she admitted she came away inspired—especially by Kim’s bold fashion sense.

“I’m entering a stage of self-discovery,” she said. “Watching Kim show up every day with a new hairstyle or look made me want to explore my own identity more. I’m playing with style and image in ways I haven’t before.”

Kardashian, who also serves as an executive producer on the eight-part series, has spoken openly about her nerves stepping into scenes with a screen veteran like Close. On an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she admitted, “I have to really bring it. In the second episode, there’s this huge scene—it’s just me and Glenn Close, and it’s an important one.”

Despite the pressure, a bond formed quickly between the co-stars. Close even shared that Kardashian invited the cast to her mother Kris Jenner’s Hidden Hills estate for a private screening of Fatal Attraction—a film Kim had never seen before—setting the tone for both collaboration and camaraderie.

With mutual respect at the heart of their partnership, Close and Kardashian are proving that powerful storytelling can emerge from the most unexpected pairings—and All’s Fair may be one of the most talked-about dramas of the year.
