SHOCKING: 90s Rock Star’s Wife Shot by Police During Neighborhood Drama – Attempted Murder Charges Filed
In a shocking turn of events, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner found herself in the center of a dramatic police confrontation in Los Angeles. Jillian Lauren, 51, was charged with attempted murder Tuesday after an incident involving a hit-and-run suspect who wandered onto her property.
The intense situation unfolded after a three-car collision on the 134 Freeway around 3pm, when three male suspects fled the crash scene. As police established a perimeter in the neighborhood, one suspect made bizarre attempts to blend in – stripping to his boxer shorts, taking a dip in a resident’s pool, and even watering plants!
Lauren, a novelist, emerged from her home armed with a gun which she reportedly pointed at the trespassing suspect. Though it remains unclear if she discharged the weapon, police issued multiple commands for her to drop it before an officer fired, striking her in the shoulder.
After retreating inside her home, Lauren later reappeared with her babysitter, both with hands raised. Officers directed them down the driveway where they were arrested without incident. Lauren reportedly told authorities she was simply defending her home from the intruder, according to CBS News.
While being transported to a medical facility by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, Lauren was “absentee booked” on attempted murder charges, The Los Angeles Times reports. Medical professionals treated her for what was described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
It’s unknown whether Shriner was present during the alarming incident, which comes as he prepares for an appearance at Coachella.

California Highway Patrol officers detained, cited and released the driver involved in the initial hit-and-run. Police recovered a 9-millimeter handgun from Lauren’s residence during their investigation. A woman injured in the original three-vehicle crash suffered moderate injuries requiring hospitalization.
Authorities clarified that Lauren had no connection to the initial hit-and-run incident. Both Lauren and her babysitter have since been released from police custody as LAPD’s Force Investigation Division examines the officer-involved shooting, according to KTLA.
The two remaining suspects from the multi-car crash have yet to be apprehended.
